Iran Press/ Iran news: British Foreign Secretary David Cameron has called Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to appeal for "restraint" by the Islamic Republic which has vowed to avenge an Israeli attack on Tehran's consular section in Damascus.
While referring to some forward developments in the relations between the two countries, the parties expressed their desire to continue joint efforts to strengthen cooperation in an environment based on mutual respect.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian criticized the British inaction in condemning the Israeli regime's air attack on the consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran embassy in Damascus.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, emphasizing the need to immediately stop the genocide and war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank as the only effective way to return peace to the region, added: "Tehran has never sought to develop tension in the region, but in the face of the Israeli regime's terrorist attack on the embassy Iran in Damascus and the silence of US and the UK means encouraging Netanyahu in the continuation of war-mongering policy and its development in the region.
Amir-Abdollahian also touched on Britain's participation in a US-led military campaign in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden against Yemen which has been targeting Israeli interests in solidarity with the Palestinians in recent months.
"The root of the crisis is not in the Red Sea but in the genocide in Gaza," he said, rebutting London's claim to the contrary.
In this call, British Foreign Minister David Cameron, while congratulating on the arrival of Eid al-Fitr, the Eid of the Muslims of the world, expressed his satisfaction with the progress achieved in some areas of cooperation between the two countries. Referring to the existing tensions in the region, the British Foreign Minister demanded restraint from the Islamic Republic of Iran and stressed: "Lack of restraint on the part of the parties can lead to further expansion of conflicts in the region."
Cameron continued to express concern about the continuation of tension in the Red Sea and added on the issue of Palestine: "The US has presented a plan for a ceasefire, which is available if the other side agrees."In this call, the parties emphasized continuing the talks. 219
