IP - The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN stressed that the Gaza Strip's humanitarian crisis has spiraled out of control, more than a year after Israel's offensive against the territory began.

Iran Press/ West Asia: Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Alya Ahmed Saif Al-Thani, reiterated during a UN Security Council session on the Middle East situation, including Palestine, that Qatar strongly condemns the brutal aggressions and collective punishment of Palestinians in Gaza, which have resulted in widespread devastation and displacement of its residents.

She stated that "Gaza's humanitarian crisis has hit a catastrophic point after over a year of relentless Israeli assaults. These actions defy repeated cautions of a broader regional escalation, potentially engulfing the West Bank and Lebanon."

"Since last October, the Israeli government has sought to choke off northern Gaza, cutting off aid and leaving residents with a stark dilemma: flee or face hunger and bombardment," she added.

Al-Thani slammed Israel's military for bombing crowded Gaza neighborhoods and refugee tents, cutting off aid, and forcibly displacing Palestinians, stressing that these atrocities openly defy UN Security Council resolutions.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel's onslaught on Gaza, aimed at freeing its prisoners and dismantling Hamas, has ravaged the territory, killing at least 43,163 people and injuring 101,510, according to Gaza's Health Ministry, in one of the deadliest conflicts in the region's history.

Defying global outcry, the Israeli regime has banned UNRWA's operations in Gaza, tightening its suffocating grip on the territory and shutting off a crucial lifeline for humanitarian aid, in a move that deepens the strip's unprecedented crisis.
