IP - European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, lamenting the bloody conflict in Palestine and Lebanon and the international community's inaction in stopping the killing of civilians, said, "After ignoring the Middle East conflicts and losing our humanity, the whole world should expect a major fire."

Iran Press/Europe: "The world is on the verge of a major fire," Borrell said. "As long as the war in Gaza and Lebanon continues, we will be on the verge of a spark igniting a larger fire."

Referring to the ongoing Israeli offensive in Gaza and Lebanon, Borrell noted, "The U.N. emphasizes that the Gaza Strip is witnessing the most violent and dangerous humanitarian crisis in the world since World War II."

He added, "Events in the Middle East have shown that we have lost our humanity."

The senior European official also called for "coercive measures" to stop the conflict in the Middle East.

On arms exports to Israel, he said, "There is no common decision in the European Union to stop arms sales to Israel," adding that each country makes its own decisions on such sales.
