According to Reuters, thousands of protesters took to the streets of Algeria's capital after former Prime Minister Abdelmadjid Tebboune was declared the winner of Algeria's presidential election.

Abdelmadjid Tebboune - who also served as housing minister under Abdelaziz Bouteflika the former president who was forced to step down in April following mass protests - won 58.15 percent of Thursday's vote, according to preliminary results announced on Friday.
In recent weeks, opposition protesters have marched more frequently and demonstrated against candidates by hanging bags of garbage in public spaces reserved for electioneering.
Meanwhile, the government has sought to appease protester anger over corruption, arresting dozens of senior officials and former officials and businessmen, many of them associated with Bouteflika, and sentencing some to long prison terms. 104/219
