Iran Press/ Europe: The 2024 World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships kicked off in Tirana, Albania, on Monday, October 28, 2024.
Pouya Dadmarz defeated his Georgian and Armenian rivals in the 55 kg weight category, respectively 5-4 and 1-1, and reached the semifinals.
Dadmarz defeated a wrestler from Russia in the semifinals 1-1 on Monday evening and reached the finals of the competition.
Still, Mohammad-Ali Gerai, who reached the semifinals, overcame his Georgian rival 2-0 in the 82 kg weight category and ascended to the finals.
Before the Groco-Roman contest began, the Iranian freestyle wrestlers became champions at the 2024 U23 World Championships that were underway from October 21-27.
Over 650 wrestlers compete in the contest both in Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
