Mustafa al-Kazemi

The Iraqi Prime Minister said that Ayatollah Sistani's fatwa prevented ISIS from advancing and thwarted the group's black plans to destroy Iraq and restore the dominance of the dictatorial regime.

Iran Press/Middle East: Mustafa al-Kazemi in a speech on Saturday evening on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the establishment of the Iraqi's Popular Mobilization Units (Al-Hashd al-Sha'abi) said: "The blessed fatwa of Ayatollah Sistani for Jihad against ISIS terrorists was a turning point and a sign of responsibility in the path of the nationalist movement and popular participation in the defense of the homeland." 

Al-Kazemi added: "Following the issuance of this fatwa, the Iraqi people immediately created successive victories, defeated ISIS in a disgraceful manner, and cleared all Iraqi cities and territory of terrorists."

"The will of the Iraqi people to defend their values and to govern the country democratically continues," Mustafa al-Kazemi added, emphasizing that Iraqis are determined to have a modern and developed country based on the consolidation of civic values.

The popular mobilization, which was established in 2014 with the fatwa of Ayatollah Sistani, the supreme authority of the Iraqi Shiites, which has played a key role in defeating ISIS terrorism in Iraq and is now at the forefront of the fight against ISIS survivors alongside the country's security forces.
