Tehran (IP)- The Iranian parliament's sports Commission has held a meeting to examine the movement of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to ban Iran from hosting football games.

Iran Press/ Iran News: The meeting was held with the participation of parliament members and the head of sports committee Reza Tabesh and Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Masoud Soltanifar.

The Iranian Football Federation (IFF) said on Friday it has received a letter from the AFC saying that all matches involving Iranian clubs would be held at a neutral venue.

The decision was announced after a Ukrainian plane was crashed in Iran because of a human error.

Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Masoud Soltanifar said: "All our effort is to preserve the national dignity and honor of the nation. Our sport is under the pressure of the Zionists lobbies and the US and they are looking to poke our sport. The AFC decision was purely politically-motivated and nonprofessional."

"The decision comes as foreign and domestic scheduled flights take place daily, and Iran's security and security of the flight routes are a baseless excuse," Soltanifar highlighted.

According to Soltanifar, the Ministry of Sports has sent two letters of protest to the AFC and FIFA, and one letter to the AFC presidency which have been reviewed and a letter has also been sent to Sheikh Ahmad International Olympic Committee (IOC) head from Kuwait.

"We have also spoken to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the issue, and Kuwaiti charge d’affaires to Tehran was summoned and our protest has been announced through the Iranian ambassador to Kuwait too," the minister concluded.
