Tehran (IP) - The Head of Iran's Crisis Management Organization highlighted that for having an advanced and effective society, accurate use of geomatics is required.

Iran PressIran news: The 27th National Conference and Exhibition on Geomatics Engineering (Geomatics 2023) was held on May 1, 2023. Attending the event, Mohammad Hassan Nami stressed: "31 out of 42 natural disasters occur in Iran, the most important of which are floods, earthquakes, droughts, frosts, landslides, subsidence, plant pests, and storms."

He said: "In order to prevent the crisis and deal with it, most of the institutions and organizations should cooperate actively." He considered one of the most important parts of crisis management to be the activities related to the prevention and reduction of vulnerability and emphasized: "We must produce materials and structures that are resistant to earthquakes."

Also, the scientific secretary of the event, stated that 95 articles were evaluated in the conference themes, and continued: "The conference themes were selected from mapping specialties related to current issues such as knowledge-based companies, satellite images, drones, and photogrammetry."

He said: "Caspian Sea water level monitoring guidelines, the current and future location of geospatial information infrastructures in the country, preparation of subsidence maps with radar images, satellite processing software training, interpretation of annual aerial photographs, were among the topics to be discussed in during the workshops."
