Palestinians have participated in the 69th week of 'Great March of Return' protests in the Gaza Strip.

Iran Press/Middle East: Palestinians on Friday, August 2, 2019, converged near the fence that separates Gaza Strip from the Israeli occupied lands, to demonstrate against the regime's decades-long occupation of Palestinian territories.

Gaza’s National Authority for Return and Breaking the Siege (NARBS), which organizes weekly rallies, called on Palestinians to attend the demonstration and affirm on their right to return to their homeland Palestine, reported Iran press.

The peaceful protests of Great March of Return were initiated in Gaza Strip on 30 March 2018, on the occasion of 'Land Day' and has continued ever since.

Since then, nearly 270 protesters have been killed -- and thousands more wounded -- by Israeli troops deployed near the buffer zone.

Demonstrators demand an end to the Zionist regime’s 12-year blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has shattered the coastal enclave’s economy and deprived its two million inhabitants of many basic amenities.

Gaza has been under an Israeli siege since June 2007, which has caused a decline in living standards.

Israel has also launched three major wars against the enclave since 2008, killing thousands of Gazans each time and shattering the impoverished territory’s already poor infrastructure.

By usurping lands and building illegal Zionist settlements, the Israeli regime is attempting to change the demographics of occupied territories to establish domination over the Palestinian lands by expelling locals and replacing them with Zionist settlers. 205/215
