5 killed, 21 wounded as suicide bomber hits Afghan security forces

A suicide bomber attacked a convoy of Afghan security forces on Friday in eastern Nangarhar province, killing 5 people including two civilians.

Iran Press/Asia: The attack took place at around 2 pm local time in the provincial capital, Jalalabad city.

According to Attaullah Khogyani, a spokesman for the provincial governor, the assailant targeted a unit of Afghan special forces, Ava Press reported.

At least five people including two civilians were killed and 21 others including 15 civilians were wounded in the incident, Khogyani said.

The Taliban militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Nangarhar is among the volatile provinces in the east part of Afghanistan where the insurgents are actively operating in a number of its districts.
