A 4.7 magnitude earthquake has rocked Kermanshah province in Western Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Head of the relief and rescue organization of Red Crescent Society of Iran, Morteza Salimi has said: "About 15:36 on Tuesday afternoon, an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck the town of Qasr Shirin and surrounding areas in Kermanshah province.  

Salimi added: "Damage-assessment teams have been dispatched by the Red Crescent Society to the area to assess possible damage from the earthquake."

Qasr Shirin is a town on the Iranian-side of the border with Iraq in Western Iran.
