Tehran(IP)- On Saturday with the presence of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, the executive operations of the second phase of the construction of Imam Khomeini Airport kicked off.

Iran Press/Iran news: Mehrdad Bazarpash, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development came to the Imam Khomeini Airport City to inauguratethe second phase of the construction of IKIA airport.

In this ceremony, the head of the aviation organization, the CEO of Airports Company, and the CEO of Imam Khomeini Airport Company were present.

In this ceremony, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development said: "The implementation of phase two of Imam Khomeini Airport worth more than 2 billion dollars which will be carried out with the participation of a foreign party."

Bazerpash added: "Negotiations and meetings to conclude an understanding were done before, and the contract was signed with the visit of the first vice president to China."

The Phase 2 project of Imam Khomeini Airport is one of the most important, strategic, and largest construction projects in the country and a big step towards becoming an airport hub in the region, he noted.

Bazarpash stated: "The Chinese party will invest more than 2 billion euros in this project."

The new terminal of Imam Khomeini Airport will be built with an area of 40,000 square meters.

The capacity of this terminal will be 35 million passengers per year in the first phase and 110 million passengers per year in the final phase. 219
