Iran Press/ Iran news: In a televised interview on Sunday, Mohammad-Mehdi Gooya stated that the first Omicron variant contraction was diagnosed in Iran, and two people are also suspected of the disease.
"A passenger, who had traveled to one of the neighboring countries (where Omicron variant is now prevalent in this country), returned to Iran and observed the symptoms, performed the diagnostic tests, and the result was positive last night," he said.
"Currently, only one case of Omicron contraction has been identified in Iran and two cases are suspected of the disease. These people are being examined and the results will be announced to the public as soon as the final test results are revealed," he added.
He noted that Iranian COVID diagnostic kits detect the most complex COVID variants and all the genetic details of Omicron.
