Kelly Knight Craft, the next US envoy to the United Nations.

A Republican donor who is currently ambassador to Canada was confirmed despite opposition from Democrats who criticized US President's nominee as too inexperienced for the post.

Iran Press/America: The US Senate has confirmed 'Kelly Knight Craft' to become the next US envoy to the United Nations despite Democratic concerns about her inexperience and potential conflicts of interest. Craft, a longtime GOP activist from Kentucky, is currently US ambassador to Canada. She was confirmed 56-34, ending a more than seven-month vacancy in the key diplomatic position.

As a matter of fact, only five Democrats endorsed her confirmation. Democrats had expressed concern that she lacks the experience needed and that her family ties to the coal industry may influence policy, reported BBC.

Knight Craft has been married to billionaire coal mining businessman, Joe Craft since 2016. She previously served as an alternate delegate to the UN during the US President George W Bush's administration, where her focuses included Africa.

Donald Trump nominated Craft to replace Haley after his first choice for the job, former State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert, withdrew from consideration. Haley stepped down from the post in December. 203/201
