Iran Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Head of the National Wisdom Movement of Iraq Ammar Hakim reviewed ways to develop bilateral ties and the latest developments in the region.

Iran Press/Middle East: Araqchi is in Iraq to take part in the Iran-Iraq joint political commission meeting which is to be co-chaired by Araqchi and his Iraqi counterpart Nazar Al-Khairullah, IRNA reported.

After an Iran-Iraq Joint Political Committee meeting, also attended by his Iraqi counterpart Nazar Khairallah, the Iranian official told IRIB News Agency that the two sides discussed planning needed preparations for the imminent visit of President Rouhani to Baghdad.

Araghchi had a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister, Adil Abdul-Mahdi

Earlier, Araghchi and the Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi in a meeting discussed bilateral ties and the joint cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad.

Both sides also underlined the importance of signing an MoU in line with both countries' interests. 

Abdul-Mahdi hailed reinforcement of relations between the two countries and extended hope for the mutual meetings to be a turning point in developing bilateral relations. 

Araghchi, for his part, expressed hope that a planned visit by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to Baghdad would lead to further expansion of trade and economic relations between the two countries. 103/209
