Kurds in Qamishli have protested against Turkey presence in Afrin, in the north of Syria.

Kurds' protesters in Qamishli chanted slogans against the Turkish government.

They also condemned what they described as international silence toward the situation in Afrin.

The traditionally Kurdish town had been emptied of its residents weeks earlier, after a brutal Turkish-led offensive forced tens of thousands to flee.

On January 20, Turkey and its allied militant groups launched an air and ground offensive on the Afrin region, which is controlled by the US-backed Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG).

Ankara has consistently denied targeting civilian infrastructure but Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said civilians, including children, have been killed in Afrin.
