Iran Press/Iran news: Condemning the new US sanction against Iran, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said on Saturday that US sanction against Iran’s petrochemical industry is a clear example of economic terrorism.
"Putting sanctions on Iran’s petrochemical industry is another evidence of US enmity with Iranian nation," Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman noted according to Iran press.
"Only one week was enough to reveal that US President Donald Trump's call for negotiation with Iran was an empty word. US policy regarding putting maximum pressures on Iran has failed once again despite the fact that it was used by previous US presidents," Seyyed Abbas Mousavi added.
"This path is a wrong path and the US should be sure that it will not achieve any of its goals by following this policy," Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
Calling US claims about negotiations with Iran baseless and unreal, the spokesman said: "It is just to distract world public opinion."
Seyyed Abbas Mousavi added that the US continued pressure on Iran and imposition of new sanctions are contrary to the principles and rules of international relations and law, as well as the international obligations of the regime, which will hold the US accountable before the international community.
“All countries have a responsibility to react against the flagrant violations of the fundamental principles of international law and not to allow the international community's achievements in multilateralism to be further ruined by the bullying and unilateral actions of the American governing body,” Mousavi concluded.
The United States targeted Iran’s petrochemical industry in new sanctions imposed, including the country’s largest petrochemical holding group.
The sanctions target Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) for providing financial support to the economic arm of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran’s elite military unit in charge of Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear programs, US Treasury Department said on Friday. 101/201
