At least 62 people were killed in the flash floods that ravaged several parts of Iran over the last few days, the head of the Forensic Medicine Organization of Iran (FMOI) confirmed on Wednesday.

Iran Press/Iran news: According to Ahmad Shojaei, among the deceased, 21 people were from the southern Fars province and 14 people from western Lorestan province.

He said eight people were killed in northeastern Caspian Sea Golestan province, five were from Mazandaran province and four from Khorasan Razavi and North Khorasan Provinces.

The major flooding also took a toll in Hamadan, Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Kermanshah, and Semnan provinces.

Floods have afflicted at least 26 of Iran’s 31 provinces over the past two weeks, states of emergency have been declared in several provinces and tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes.

Major floods have been reported in the provinces of Golestan, Mazandaran, Gilan, Kurdistan, Fars, Northern Khorasan, Kermanshah, Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad as well as Sistan and Balouchestan.    101/211
