Iranian President has said the Golan Heights belong to Syria, rejecting any attempts to undermine international resolutions which confirm this fact.

Iran Press/Iran news: “Neither the Holy Quds will be a base for occupiers, nor the Golan Heights will be separated from dear Syria, President Hassan Rouhani said whilst speaking at a meeting of senior officials, ambassadors and diplomats of Muslim countries, and people from all walks of life with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on Wednesday.

"The enemies are not capable of making Iran surrender before the cancer of the region, the Zionist Regime,” he continued according to Iran Press.

In a tweet that caught many by surprise, US president Donald Trump said the time had come for the United States to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the (illegally-occupied) Golan Heights. The tweet was warmly welcomed by the Zionist regime prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but the international community, including the Islamic world and the European Union, have forthrightly rejected Trump's declaration, saying the move contravenes international laws and norms, as well as several UN security council resolutions.

Elsewhere in his remarks Iranian President referred to the effects of sanctions on rescue efforts in flood-stricken areas of the country and said: “Those who did not allow Iranians living outside the country to send aid to their own people should be ashamed.”

“The day when the enemies of the Iranian nation and all freedom-seekers around the world imposed sanctions on us, these people stood firm,” he said.

President Rouhani added: “The government, the people, the armed forces, and all pillars of our system will rebuild and rejuvenate flood-destroyed areas through cooperation, teamwork, and with each other’s help.”  211/101
