Normal Life resumes in flood-hit regions

A senior local official said that life came back to normal in the flood-affected regions of northern provinces of Mazandaran and Golestan.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a crisis management meeting held in the region with the presence of First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri on Sunday, Governor General of Mazandaran Ahmad Hosseinzadegan said water is slowly receding in local rivers that were swollen with rainwater in recent days.

The condition in the flood-affected areas is normal, Mazandaran governer general noted.

Jahangiri arrived in the flood-affected regions on Saturday to personally monitor the process and pace of relief operations and also help speed up the removal of problems.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Iranian Cabinet Mohsen Haji Mirzaei told IRNA that the government will hold its first cabinet meeting in the new year on Wednesday.

Exploring the way for assisting the flood-affected regions will be the main topic of first cabinet meeting this year, officials noted.

Golestan and Mazandaran provinces in the north of the country have been affected by heavy rains for the past few days. Flood forced people in many areas to flee and Aqqala and Gomishan cities in Golestan province were evacuated in order to prevent human losses.104/213
