The International Roundtable on 'humanitarian mine action' is being held in Iran, hosted by Iranian Defense Minister.

Iran Press/Iran news: Calling on United Nations to stop various countries from exporting deadly weapons and at the same time claiming to champion human rights, Iran's defense minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami warned that Iran fights against those who stand against it.

Defense Minister Hatami stressed that sanctions made Islamic Iran more prepared and ready to respond. The top defense official also said that Iran is ready to share its expertise regarding human mine action, Iran Press reported.

The international roundtable on 'Humanitarian Mine action' commenced in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The event was hosted by Iran's Ministry of Defense. Other senior figures attending the roundtable discussion included Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi and representatives of various Asian countries and the Commonwealth of Nations and the representatives of other international organizations actively involved in humanitarian mine action.

The event is aimed at transferring the methods and approaches involved in 'Mine Action' to the countries where mines still can be found. The three-day event will end on 14 March 2019.
