Foreign Ministers of Iran and Iraq reviewed issues of mutual interest as well as the latest regional and international developments in a phone conversation on Saturday.

Iran Press/Iran: During the conversation, Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali Hakim underlined the need for expansion of cooperation between the two countries in all areas, according to a statement by Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

The statement said that both the Iranian and Iraqi ministers expressed their willingness to boost bilateral relations, IRNA reported.

The conversation was made on the eve of a visit to Baghdad by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. 

Head of Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Palestinian National Authority Riyad al-Maliki are scheduled to visit Baghdad on Sunday.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is due to visit Iraq a day later while Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is expected to pay a visit to the neighboring country on March 11-12. 105
