The 11th Iran International Renewable Energy, Lighting and Energy Saving Exhibition (February 21-24) opened in Tehran Permanent International Fairground on Thursday.

Iran Press/Iran news: Deputy Minister of Energy Mohammad Sadeqzadeh told inaugural ceremony of the Exhibition that since Iranian calendar year of 1394 (2015-16), Iran's capacity to generate power out of renewable and clean energy has doubled.

Sadeqzadeh said that in the first year, the country's capacity in generating power rose to 250 megawatts from 130 megawatts and in the coming year it reached 500 megawatts from 250 megawatts, Iran Press reported.

He added the figure has now risen to 700 megawatts and it is hoped to reach more than 1,000 megawatts by March 20, marking the end of the current Iranian calendar year of 1397 (2018-19).

He said this indicates the adequate rate of growth in the renewable energy sector. 105
