Iranian Foreign Ministry has condemned the US unlawful intervention in Venezuela's internal affairs.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a statement on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Bahram Ghassemi voiced hope for a legal and peaceful settlement of the Latin country’s political disputes.

Ghassemi added that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the government and the nation of Venezuela in the face of any foreign intervention in the country’s internal affairs or any illegal or anti-popular actions, such as attempts to stage coups, IRNA reported.

We hope that any political disagreements in Venezuela will be resolved as soon as possible by the people and government of the country through the adoption of legal and peaceful solutions, Ghassemi stressed.

On Jan 24, 2019, US recognized the head of Venezuela's opposition-led National Assembly, Juan Guaido as the country's interim president.

In reaction on Wednesday, Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro said that he would give the entire diplomatic and consular personnel of the United States of America in Venezuela, 72 hours to leave the country.

Guaido has declared himself interim president of the country and was immediately recognized by the US.

Maduro has accused the US of being behind Venezuela’s economic crisis, saying Washington is orchestrating attempts to topple him as part of a wider offensive against Latin American leaders defying the US hegemony.105/210
