Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif

Iranian foreign minister said that the US president efforts to force other countries to stop doing business with Iran shows American power and influence in the world is diminishing.

Iran Press/ Iran news: At the 4th National Congress of Nedaye Iranian Party — NEDA, which was held at Milad Tower on Friday morning, Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, said that mounting pressure on other countries to stop trading with Iran shows the US global influence is diminishing.

"Due to geographic position, rich history and great people, Iran is a powerful and influential country and this fact is proven not only in last forty years after victory of Islamic Revolution, but also in last 7000 years" Zarif said.

"With the exception of Egypt, Iran's defense budget is the lowest in the whole region, Saudi Arabia spent over $69 billion last year on weapons purchases. The total budget of the Islamic Republic of Iran's defense budget is less than $16 billion. So what has made us so powerful? Our nation is the backbone of our national security and we are nothing without our people" Iranian foreign minister added.

Citing to recent remarks of US senator Lindsey Graham in a recent interview with Fox News that without US pressure against Iran, "they'd be speaking Farsi in about a week in Saudi Arabia", Zarif said: " as a Muslim and a person living in this region, I am ashamed of hearing these remarks, but I am also proud we have lived in such a way for over 40 years that no one could dare to say the same thing about us."

Iranian foreign minister also said: "If power bases were economic progress, military might or foreign policy, our neighbors should be more powerful than us because one of them is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member and the other one has nuclear weapons. components and tools of power have changed, and we could act without the intervention of the foreigners and aliens; our power is endogenous."

"Our enemies don't care who is the president or the minister in the Islamic Republic. They do not recognize the existence of the Islamic Republic of Iran" he mentioned.

"The era of all-powerfulness is over, and this is in our favor. West is not center of the Globe. We should not put all of our attention and focus on America, all Roads do not Lead to the US. President of the US with 650 b$ defense budget, sends his representatives to different countries to force them to stop doing business with Iran, this shows US power and influence is diminishing," Zarif continued.
