Stefan Scholz also vowed to make efforts to develop cooperation between the EU and Iran.
On Jul. 21, Austria's top parliamentary official Andreas Schieder declared support for saving Iran's Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached between Tehran and the world powers in 2015.
US President Donald Tramp unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA on May 8, 2018, reneging on Washington's commitments under the international agreement while announcing re-imposition of illegal unilateral sanctions against Iran.
Iran said that US withdrawal from JCPOA is a clear violation of UN security council resolution 2231, approved by the security council in 2015.
The US withdrawal was met with worldwide criticism, particularly by other signatories to the international agreement. Britain, France, Russia, China, Germany and the European Union have all stressed their compliance with the deal and their support for its proper implementation.201/102
