In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Friday, Tunisian university professor, Fouzi Al-Alavi, referred to the efforts by the arrogant powers, particularly the United States of America, to downplay the importance of the issue of Palestine, to portray it as unimportant, and to try to remove this as a core central issue of the Islamic world.
Fouzi Al-Alavi said that Islamic nations believe in Islamic unity, and this means they pay attention to the plight of oppressed people and nations.
The Tunisian academic went on to refer to the issue of Palestine and the issue of Al-Quds as a principal motivation for Islamic unity.
Fouzi Al-Alavi added: "The colonialist powers and some Arab regimes don't pay any attention to the issue of Palestine, and they want to divide Muslims, and pit them against one another."
The Tunisian professor noted: "The chronic issue of Palestine, is a historic issue, which requires us to rise up against Zionists and the arrogant world powers. The Zionists and arrogant world powers are supporting the Takfiri and Salafist extremists who are spilling Muslim blood, trying to cause divisions among Muslims."
The professor of philosophy from Al-Zeituniye university in Tunisia also went on to talk about the importance of Islamic Unity Week conference in Tehran, saying one of the aims of the conference is to awaken Islamic countries, so that they defend their independence and sovereignty.
The 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference was inaugurated by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The conference came as Muslims are celebrating the Unity Week, which is an annual occasion as a sign of solidarity among different Islamic schools of thought. The birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will start this week on Sunday.
The theme of the conference is ‘Quds pivot of Islamic unity’ and 350 foreign guests, including 10 ministers and 40 Muftis from Muslim states are taking part in the 32nd Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran. 211/104
