Referring to numerous events throughout history on the 13th of Iranian month of Aban (usually corresponding to 4 November), Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said that this special day (4 November) represents the deep and continuing challenge which the United States poses for Iran.

Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, addressing a large gathering of demonstrators in front of the former US embassy in Tehran on Sunday, the top commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said that the reason for this day's importance is that "US prestige and grandeur was shattered in Iran and all over the world on 4 November 1979."

Major General Jafari added: "Important events have happened in Iranian history on 4 November. The first such event happened on 4 November 1964, in which the former despotic monarch, the Shah, after obtaining permission from US diplomats in the US embassy in Tehran, ordered the exile of the founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace)."

"The second important event happened on 4 November 1978, which showed to the world the meanness and wickedness of the Shah and his American masters. On that day, fearful of large numbers of students demonstrating in universities, ordered them to be shot, and numerous university students were shot and martyred by the Shah's army. But as their blood was spilt, the victory of the Islamic revolution was guaranteed."

"The third important event, happened on 4 November 1979, when revolutionary university students, followers of Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace), sensing real danger from the spies and intelligence officers posing as US diplomats, climbed the US embassy walls, and took over  the 'den of espionage'-- the embassy building."

Addressing America's leadership, Major General Jafari issued this warning: "Do not ever threaten Iran", to a massive cheering crowd.

Pointing to US soldiers’ fear of Iran in their encounter with Iran and the high number of American veterans who commit suicide because of depression, the IRGC chief declared: "US power is definitely on the wane."
