Iranian parliamentarians are currently examining and debating a government support package for the less-well-off and the poor, in a closed session of the Majlis on Tuesday morning.

Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, Akbar Ranjbarzadeh, a member of the executive committee of the parliament, said Tuesday morning's closed session of the parliament, chaired by Masoud Pezeshkian, vice speaker of the Malis, got underway with MPs discussing government measures to control currency exchange rates and also government steps to help the poor and the working class. Ranjbarzadeh said Mahmoud Hojjati, minister of agricultural Jihad, and Mohammad Baghar Nowbakht, head of planning and budget organisation were the invited guests and took part in the debate on Tuesday morning.

Mahmoud Hojjati, minister of agricultural Jihad and Mohammad Baghar Nowbakht, head of planning and budget organisation of Iran and head of organization to control prices delivered speeches in the session, outlining steps taken by the government to control currency fluctuations and currency exchange rates.

Ranjbarzadeh added: "The minister of agricultural Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati, went into the details of a government support package for the poor and working class, and presented an overview of the practical measures and steps undertaken by the government to support the poor and working class. Hojjati also detailed the action undertaken by the government to check rising prices and control the market."

Rouhani's nominations for replacement ministers

A spokesman for the executive committee of the parliament, Behrouz Ne'mati, has said president Rouhani's nominations for replacement of the ministers of labour and social security, economy and finance, and cooperatives will be submitted to the Majlis (parliament) next week.

Answering a question by an Iran Press reporter, Ne'mati said: "Bearing in mind that president Rouhani's nominations will be submitted next week, there won't be any open sessions of the parliament in the coming week.
