The head of Mazandaran province's highway police, has confirmed that Iranian national football team centre forward, Sardar Azmoun, was involved in a car accident on Sunday morning, but did not sustain any injuries as a result of the accident.

Colonel AliReza Ghadami, head of Mazandaran province's highway police, speaking at a press briefing on Sunday, said a medium-sized lorry overturned in the Neka - Behshahr road on Sunday morning due to "excessive speed".

Colonel Ghadami added:  "After the lorry overturned , a Porsche sportscar , driven by Iranian international, Sardar Azmoun, hit a Nissan pick-up truck, close to where the lorry had overturned .  Following this, another Nissan pick-up truck and a KIA motors "pride" slammed into the first pick-up truck , and the Porsche.

Colonel Ghadami stressed:  "Thankfully, no one was injured in this pile-up along the the Neka - Behshahr road , and only material damage occurred as a result on this accident.   There were no human injuries, and Iranian centre forward, Sardar Azmoun, is doing fine and is in good health".
