Eight members of Daesh ( also known as ISIS ) terror group have been given death sentences by a court in Tehran. All eight were involved in the twin terror attacks of June 2017, when suicide attackers hit the Iranian parliament, Majlis, and the mausoleum of the founder of the Islamic Republic in south Tehran.

The twin terror attacks of  June 2017, resulted in the killing of 17 individuals , and the injury of a number of others. Most of those killed were victims of the attack on the Majlis, the Iranian parliament.

According to an Iran Press report, the court is still considering the cases of 18 other Daesh ( ISIS ) terrorists, and a verdict has not been issued in those cases.

The presiding judge in the case, Hojjat-ol-Islam Moussa GhazanfarAbadi, said after careful consideration of the very serious charges which have been brought against these eight individuals, the court decided that a death sentence was appropriate in this case.

Judge GhazanfarAbadi added:  "The defendants have now 20 days to appeal the court's decision.  The appeal  would be  heard at the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land .
