Hezbollah official: Israeli drone falls in south Beirut suburbs, second drone crashes

Hours after the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed Israel's airstrikes against Syrian capital, Lebanese Hezbollah shot down two Israeli drones.

Iran Press/Iran news: lebanon's Hezbollah said that an intruding Israeli drone fell in the southern suburbs of Beirut, and a second drone exploded near the ground before dawn on Sunday.

The second drone caused damage when it crashed in a neighborhood of the Dahyeh suburbs close to Hezbollah’s media center, a Hezbollah official told Reuters.

The official said the Israeli drones had been downed by the group.

Meanwhile, residents said they had heard the sound of an explosion in the suburbs.

No further information was immediately available.

Israeli warplanes fly over Lebanon regularly and have struck inside neighboring Syria from Lebanese airspace on numerous occasions.

A few hours earlier, late Saturday, the Israeli military attacked targets near Syria's capital of Damascus in what it said was a successful effort to thwart an allegedly imminent drone strike on Israel.

In a statement issued just minutes after the Israeli army announced the strike, Netanyahu hailed the military’s "major operational effort."
