Iran Press/Middle East: More than an hour later, the nearly 200 protesters, waving Iraqi and Palestinian flags, dispersed. The official said 25 of the protesters were detained by Iraqi security forces later in the evening.
Police used live rounds to disperse the crowd with no injuries, according to Reuters.
An Iraqi official speaking on condition of anonymity told the media that the protesters stayed in the garden of the embassy complex and did not enter the offices inside the compound.
Bahrain recalled its ambassador to Iraq for consultations on Thursday after the protests.
The protests indicate the growing outrage in the Muslim world against Bahrain's decision to host the Manama Workshop, an event that seeks to bring "peace" back to Palestine and Israeli-occupied territories through a deal masterminded by the Trump administration, in particular Jared Kushner, the US President's son-in-law.
The so-called "Peace to Prosperity" workshop opened in the Bahraini capital Manama on June 25 and ran through June 26 and sought to garner support for a $50 billion investment plan in Palestine.
The plan has met broad disdain from Palestinians and others in the Arab world although regional US allies such as Saudi Arabia discreetly support it. Neither the Israeli nor Palestinian governments attended the meeting.
Several Arab countries boycotted the Bahrain conference, including Lebanon and Iraq, as well as the Palestinian self-rule authority. 101/211/208
