Abbas Akhoundi who is visiting Damascus for a preliminary meeting of the Iran-Syria joint economic commission, was received by Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Samer al-Khalil.
A delegation comprising private sectors' officials is accompanying the Iranian minister in his visit to Syria.
Akhoundi is scheduled to meet senior Syrian officials during his stay in the country.
The meetings will be a prelude to a high economic commission meeting that will be held in coming days.
Senior officials of the two countries will attend the meeting that is likely to signing of final agreements.
