Iran Press/Iran news: "We have excellent collaboration with key government institution which BAFIA (Bureau for Aliens and Foreign Immigrants Affairs) is one of them and various others ministries and national implementing partners", said UNHCR representative in Iran, Ivo Freijsen on Tuesday in an exclusive interview with Iran Press.
Talking on the sidelines of a 'Forum for improving the Afghan refugee's livelihood' in Tehran on Tuesday he said: "What we are doing is really a joint effort in the office in conjunction with the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
As a humanitarian organization, we are obviously most concerned about what sanctions mean at an economic level for people like a refugee with little money, with only a small income, including the Afghan refugee's communities, he added.
Freijsen stressed: "We are trying to understand how the needs of refugees are changing and what collectively we need to do more and better to make sure that vulnerabilities within these communities are being addressed and what we are basically saying to the international community is that all the good work that has happened here for forty years in terms of hospitality vis-a-vis refugees and asylum seekers, specially now requires more support and burden-sharing."
He added: "So more entities, donors, member state with also the corporate sector we hope to become a part of the community and ensuring the refugees' livelihoods and protection needs are being addressed", the UNHCR representative in Iran highlighted.
