Iranian Foreign Minister has struck back at US accusations, saying what the US is doing is extortion.

Iran Press/Iran news: "What exactly is EXTORTION, @SecPompeo?" Mohammad Javad Zarif asked US counterpart Mike Pompeo in a tweet on Saturday, dismissing his claim that the world will “take decisive actions to stop Iran’s nuclear extortion.”

"Is it violating a UN resolution & punishing anyone observing it? Offering bribes for theft of oil & designating those who refuse? Maybe it’s demanding Iran's submission or its people starve? Or, is it lawful remedial measures under JCPOA?" Zarif added referring to the US illegal measures against Tehran, Iran Press reported.

Pompeo took to Twitter on Friday to press the European nations after Tehran's announcement of further cuts in its commitments under a 2015 nuclear accord it signed with major world powers.

The US is “confident that the UK, France, and Germany – indeed, all civilized nations – will take decisive actions to stop Iran’s nuclear extortion,” he claimed.

On Thursday, Iran informed the European Union that it would begin unlimited nuclear research and development work from Friday, officially putting into action the third stage of its measured responses to Europe's inaction in the face of Washington's violation of the nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
