Iran Press/Iran news: Hassan Rouhani in a speech in Bojnourd in North Khorasan province on Sunday evening, also said Iran's natural gas extraction from the joint South Pars Gas Field now exceeds that of neighbouring Qatar, saying this is good news for the people of Iran.
Elsewhere in his remarks, President Rouhani said every day about ten villages in Iran are connected to the national gas network, meaning every year over 3000 villages are supplied with natural gas.
He added: "Every week about 30 villages in Iran are connected to mains water, receiving clean drinking water, and this means we are very active to bring services and amenities to rural areas of Iran."
President Rouhani added: "This is a major accomplishment. With the Grace of God, we have managed to take concrete steps forward, and we shall continue our progress despite US sanctions. We will accomplish our goals, but US sanctions mean it might take us longer to do so."
The Iranian president also praised the provision of health services to villages and rural areas of the Islamic Republic.
Rouhani has praised the scientists and engineers and personnel of the energy ministry for their pioneering work, and for leading Iran to peaks of progress in science and technology.
