Iran Press / Iran News: In an exclusive interview with Iran Pres News Agency, the head of Maritime and Ports Organization Mohammad Rastad reported an improvement of non-oil goods export and import through Iran's ports in the first quarter of the current Iranian year.
"Fortunately, due to the Islamic Republic of Iran's capacities and capabilities both at ports and Iranian ocean-going fleets, the usual process of import and export ocean going goods to the ports of Iran has been continued this year," Rastad said.
He mentioned a 14-percent increase in non-oil commodities import and noted that the amount of non-oil export is almost as twice the imports, downplaying the impact of the sanctions on Iran.
He also referred to the safety of navigation as one of the main objectives of the maritime organization and added that dredging the ports and maritime accessible channels and basins would enhance the safety of navigation.
"We need to continue hydrography of accessible channels, so the role of hydrography operation and its impact on the enhancement of the safety of navigation is very important," he said.
The World Hydrographic Day ceremony was held on Tuesday morning, hosted by Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) with the presence of the head of the organization, Mohammad Rastad and other officials, managers, experts, and specialists in the field of hydrography. 104/215
