  • FM spokesman: Enemy trying to harm the economy and stability of eastern Iran

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi roundly condemned a terrorist attack in Chabahar in southeastern Iran on Thursday, issuing a stern warning to the terrorists and their backers.

Iran news: Ghasemi said the terror attack is in line with enemy efforts to harm economic vibrancy, stability and security on Iran's eastern borders, Iran Press reported.

He expressed his condolences to the Iranian people, especially the bereaved families of the martyrs of the terror attack, on the tragic event and wished speedy recovery for the injured.

"The terrorists nurtured in certain countries and the hubs of violence and extremism in the region today launched another mischievous and callous operation in Chabahar economic zone to portray Iran as insecure, and they are aided and abetted by regional states, aiming to harm economic vibrancy, stability and security on Iran's eastern borders. Absolutely, the violence and death seekers, who act on orders of a few well-known centers, will pay a hefty price for committing such crimes."

According to an Iran Press report from the port city of Chabahar, a big loud explosion in the city at about 10 am on Thursday morning disturbed the residents.

The acting head of Chabahar district in Sistan-Balouchestan Province, Rahmdel Bameri, has said two persons were martyred, and 33 others were injured in Thursday morning's terror attack, which included eight women and three children.

Various politicians and heads of government have condemned the Chabahar terrorist attack, including the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, and the spokesman for Pakistan's foreign ministry, Mohammad Feisal.

Currently, no individual or group has accepted responsibility for this terror attack.  211/ 103
