The Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani arrived in Belgrade, Serbia on Sunday to attend the 141st Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly.

 Iran PressEurope: In addition to delivering a speech to the IPU  Assembly, Ali Larijani is scheduled to hold talks with his counterparts.

The IPU is the global inter-parliamentary institution that facilitates parliamentary diplomacy and empowers parliaments and parliamentarians to promote peace, democracy and sustainable development around the world.

A number of Iranian members of parliament are accompanying Larijani to the IPU meeting.

Before departing for Serbia to attend the Assembly, Iranian Parliament Speaker said that the Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is a good opportunity to discuss regional issues with parliamentary heads of other participating countries.

He added that his visit also aims at holding talks on expansion of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Serbia.

Larijani stressed that observing the international law and commitments, which have been violated especially in the past few years, is an important issue to be discussed during the summit.
