Iran Press/Asia: Meeting with Japan's Foreign Minister in Yokohama, near Tokyo on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif clarified that he looked forward to discuss with Kono as both countries had special interests in the security of the energy market and stability in the Persian Gulf.
On his part, Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono said that his country will make some diplomatic effort to help ease tension in the Middle East, Iran Press reported.
The two sides also discussed bilateral ties, the latest diplomatic developments regarding the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the most important regional and international issues, including the conditions in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East, and other issues of interest.
Japan has historically had friendly ties with Iran.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif who was in Beijing on Monday to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, arrived in Tokyo on Tuesday for discussions with Japanese officials.
