The Daesh terror group claimed responsibility for an explosion in Afghanistan capital Kabul on Wednesday which left at least 26 people killed and 18 others wounded .

 The explosion took place as the Afghan capital celebrated the Nowruz holiday marking the start of the Persian new year.  According to ToloNews, the blast took place at the Kart-e-Char area in PD3, near Ali Abad hospital and Kabul University.A report said that bodies were lying on the ground soon after the explosion, which is believed to have been a car bomb. Security forces have cordoned off the area. The Afghan Interior Ministry said at least 26 people had been killed and 18 injured in the attack. Reports said many of those killed were Shia and the casualty toll could still rise.

The bomber reportedly walked toward the Sakhi shrine and blew up his explosives when identified by the police.
