Iran Press/Africa: Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Abbas Araghchi and South African National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete talk about the latest status of Iran nuclear deal, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also EU’s financial mechanism for trade with Iran, an instrumental tool called INSTEX.
Cooperation between the two countries, particularly political and economic cooperation, were the main topics of discussion between the two officials.
The South African parliament speaker, Baleka Mbete highlighted the significance of bilateral relations and voiced her country’s support for the Iran nuclear deal, Mehr News Agency reported.
South Africa is ready to expand economic cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, she added.
Araghchi who traveled to Cape Town to attend at the 9th Deputy Ministerial Working Group Meeting on 08 March 2019, during the meeting with Baleka Mbete, Araghchi extended the warm greetings of Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani to his South African counterpart.
In 1995, the two countries established a Joint Commission to allow for a high-level review of bilateral relations and to consider ways in which these relations could be expanded. 205/211/103
