Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif has reiterated that the United States by selling an excessive amount of weapons to the Middle East region, much more than the region needs, has turned it into a dangerous powder keg, Iran Press reported.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the second conference of parliament speakers with participation of Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, China and Russia in Tehran on Saturday, Zarif said: "This is a dangerous policy they (the Americans) follow in our region."
Iranian Foreign Minister added: "The amount of weapons the US sells to our region is unbelievable and far beyond the need of this region. The US policy has brought many modern destructive weapons to the region, and this has not helped in any way establishment of regional peace and security."
Asked about US accusations against Iran regarding missiles, Iranian Foreign Minister said: "American officials do whatever they can to interrupt relations between Iran and Europe, so they resort to baseless allegations these days. They [American officials] try to distort the regional issues. We’ve read in the American media that US arms are in hands of Al Qaeda in Yemen and ISIS in Syria, and this is a danger threatening our region."
Zarif said: "The US has been isolated in the world, entered [trade] war with China and even arrested a senior Huawei executive. All these indicate US frustration rather than its power."
Commenting on Tehran Conference, the top diplomat said: "Speakers of the six countries can organize a public movement against terrorism."
The second conference of parliament speakers focuses on the Challenges of Terrorism and Inter-Regional Connectivity."
