Iran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, met his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, on the margins of the ASEAN summit in Singapore.

Iranian  foreign minister  Mohammad Javad Zarif  met  Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov  on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Singapore on Thursday. «I appreciate this opportunity to touch base as part of very regular and intense contacts between Moscow and Tehran,» the Russian foreign minister said. The two diplomats emphasised  keeping Iran's nuclear deal, known as JCPOA . They also  discussed bilateral relations.

Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has sat for talks with a number of high-ranking Asian officials on the sidelines of the ongoing ministerial meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Singapore.

Zarif, who arrived in Singapore on Wednesday evening, held a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Taro Kono on Thursday morning. The two top diplomats talked about bilateral relations, the Iran nuclear deal and other issues of mutual interest.

 

Earlier in the day, Zarif had talks with his Filipino counterpart Alan Peter Cayetano, during which the two men discussed ways of developing bilateral relations. They also discussed the most pressing and important international developments.

Zarif also held a separate meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu. Bilateral relations and regional and international issues were the main topics of discussion between the two foreign ministers.

According to some sources the  Iranian foreign minister has also  met his  Vietnamese and Malaysian counterparts on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Singapore.
