Yemen army launches biggest retaliatory attack on Saudi positions

The Yemeni army fired 10 ballistic missiles towards Saudi Arabia's Jizan airport, in the biggest-ever retaliatory attack against Saudi positions, killing and injuring dozens in the operation.

Iran PressMiddle East: Ten short-range ballistic missiles were fired at Saudi Arabia's Jizan Airport, located in the kingdom's southwestern Jizan province, media reported, citing the spokesman for Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree.

According to the spokesperson, dozens were wounded and killed in the attack.

The Badr-1 missiles hit the hangars of warplanes and Apache helicopters as well as some military sites in the Jizan Airport, according to a report by Yemen's al-Masirah TV.

For several months, the Houthis have been hitting back, attacking Jizan and Abha airports in southern Saudi Arabia, in response to the on-going Saudi attacks and blockade of Yemen.

General Yahya Saree warned about the consequences of the continued Saudi attacks on the innocent Yemeni people.

Abha and Jizan airports, as well as King Khalid airbase in southern Saudi Arabia, have been targeted by the Yemeni army and popular committees in recent weeks.

Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries, launched a military invasion of Yemen in March 2015 and has besieged its land, sea, and air. The Saudi-led war in Yemen has so far killed more than sixteen thousand Yemenis, wounded tens of thousands of others, and displaced millions of people.
