Tehran (IP) - A group of Iranian cinema and theater artists attended a mourning ceremony for the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (PBUH), bringing back his sacrifices on the day of Ashura.

Iran PressIran News: In the ceremony held at the Ministry of Islamic Culture and Guidance on Wednesday, one of the exquisite works of calligraphy was unveiled in the presence of Iranian Minister of Islamic Culture and Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili.

Dariush Arjmand and Reza Banafshekhah, well-known Iranian artists, and many representatives of Iran parliament were also attending the  ceremony.

The artists also performed the song of Mokhtar's series with some traditional musical instruments.

In mourning ceremonies held in southern Iranian provinces of Iran, including Khuzestan, Bushehr and Hormozgan provinces, religious rituals have been performed using the traditional musical instruments such as "Sanj" and "Damam." These ceremonies are held to commemorate the holy Month of Muharram and Martyrdom anniversary of the third infallible Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (PBUH) in Karbala.
