Iran Press/Middle East: Mohammad Javad Zarif, who traveled to Lebanon, told a news conference with reporters on Friday: "We express our sympathy and solidarity with the Lebanese people in this very worrying situation and this very sad incident."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated that in this situation, the people and the government of Lebanon must decide on the future and progress of their affairs, adding: "Others should not make their assistance in this emergency conditional on any change in Lebanon, Because in our opinion, it is not humanistic to use the conditions of the people for political purposes.
Iran ready to rebuild Lebanon
Iranian foreign minister said that Iran is ready to rebuild Lebanon, provide humanitarian aid to the country, and provide electricity.
Zarif noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran will stand by the Lebanese government and people, and we will assist in any decision made by the Lebanese government and people.
After meeting with Charbel Wehbe, Zarif said: "Iran once again expresses its solidarity with Lebanon in these worrying circumstances created by the Beirut explosion."
Stating that the Lebanese people and government have the authority to make decisive decisions, the Iranian Foreign Minister added that just as Lebanon defeated the Zionist enemy, it will emerge victorious from this crisis.
Congratulating the anniversary of the victory of Lebanon and Hezbollah in the 33-day war against the Zionist regime, the top diplomat stressed that "Today is the anniversary of the Lebanese people's victory over the Zionist enemy in the 33-day war and I am sure that just as Lebanon gained a victory against the aggression of the Zionist enemy, it will overcome this incident as well.
Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Beirut Thursday night to meet with Lebanese officials as well as to express Iran's solidarity and empathy with the Lebanese people and government after Beirut's disastrous blast. He was welcomed by his Lebanese counterpart, Charbel Wehbe.
Zarif is set to meet with top Lebanese officials to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon after the recent deadly explosion in Beirut.
