Iran Press/Asia: Addressing the forum on the common security in the Islamic world in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed that the United States has been the main cause of insecurity in the Persian Gulf but now it wants to establish security in the region by creating a coalition.
Zarif referred to the changes in global developments, saying, "based on the global developments, no single state can provide security. You cannot have security at the expense of the insecurity of others."
“The US cannot come to the Persian Gulf and can not claim to create security where Iran has 1500 miles of coastline in these waters, owns the northern part of the Strait of Hormuz and 1500 miles of coastline in the sea of Oman,” he added, reported Iran Press.
"That country believes that by bringing a few ships to the Persian Gulf, it can provide security for itself and others," noted the Iranian top diplomat.
Zarif also pointed out that the West is not the only important player in international relations anymore.
Iran's Foreign Minister went on to say that the US will have to observe the 2015 nuclear deal if it wants to meet for talks.
“The United States is engaged in an economic war against the Iranian people and it won’t be possible for us to engage with the US unless they stop imposing war and engaging in economic terrorism against the Iranian people,” Zarif told reporters in Kuala Lumpur.
“So if they want to come back into the room there is a ticket that they need to purchase and that ticket is to observe the agreement,” he said, referring to the 2015 nuclear deal.
