US pressure has no impact on Iran-Iraq ties: Envoy

Iran's ambassador to Iraq hailed the relations between the two countries as positive, dismissing the US pressures.

Iran Press/Middle East: Iran's ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi rejected any Iran-US interaction and asserted that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports al-Kadhimi’s government.

Masjedi referred to his recent meeting the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi and told al-Alam TV on Wednesday that al-Kadhimi has called for Iran’s help for the economic challenges ahead of Iraq.

He said al-Kadhimi has pledged to take serious steps to strengthen Iraq’s relations with Iran and pursuing all of the bilateral agreements between the two countries.

The Iranian envoy to Iraq also referred to the Daesh terrorist group’s recent movements in parts of Iraq and noted that the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Unit (PMU) and armed forces can handle the security of the country.
